REDISCOVERED TREASURES: MUSIC FOR VIOLIN AND PIANO

Saturday, September 17 from 5:00pm-7:30pm (US Central Time)
Tatiana Chulochnikova, violin & Anastasia Dedik, piano

“Rediscovered Treasures” featuring music for violin and piano by Piotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninov, Anton Rubinstein and Theodore Akimenko performed by violinist Tatiana Chulochnikova, and pianist Anastasia Dedik.

This performance at the Museum of the Russian Art marks the North-American premiere of select works for violin and piano by Theodore Akimenko. The album “Théodore Akimenko: Works for Violin and Piano” was recorded and produced in New York City in the fall 2015, making the first existing recorded collection of works by the composer. Released on the London based label Toccata Classics, the album has already been noted and favorably reviewed. Recent review says that the music is “played with fullest commitment, romantic fervour and heart”.

Always passionate about finding new and unknown repertoire for violin, Tatiana Chulochnikova discovered the musical legacy of Théodore Akimenko. This nineteenth century composer until now had only one claim to fame: he was Stravinsky’s first teacher. In collaboration with pianist Anastasia Dedik, the album “Théodore Akimenko: Works for Violin and Piano” was recorded and produced in New York City in the fall 2015, making the first existing recorded collection of works by the composer. Released on the London based label Toccata Classics, the album has already been noted and favorably reviewed. Recent review says that the music is “played with fullest commitment, romantic fervour and heart”.

As a wonderful addition to the evening, both Tatiana Chulochinikova and Anastasia Dedik will be signing cds for audience members.
